Steven C. Bourassa

Steven C. Bourassa is the Henry D. Epstein Professor and Chair of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Previously he was KHC Real Estate Research Professor and Chair of the Department of Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville. He has also worked at the Australian National University, University of Sydney, University of Auckland, and University of Memphis.

Professor Bourassa’s research interests include housing tenure, house prices, housing affordability, property taxation, and land tenure. He co-edited Leasing Public Land: Policy Debates and International Experiences with Yu-Hung Hong (Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, 2003). He has also published numerous articles in journals such as the Journal of Housing Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, Real Estate Economics, and Urban Studies. He serves on the editorial boards of eight journals. He received the International Real Estate Society’s Award for Achievement in International Real Estate Research in 2014 and is a Fellow of the Weimer School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate and Land Economics of the Homer Hoyt Institute.

Professor Bourassa studied at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Ph.D. in city and regional planning.
