As a Research Economist, you will develop an in-depth research effort focusing on one or more real estate asset classes. Under the guidance of the research director, you will set an applied annual research agenda, develop findings through rigorous methods and disseminate them in writing (blog posts, articles, and reports), media interviews, and presentations to industry, community and government stakeholders. Through focused attention on current and emerging issues, use of appropriate and sophisticated methods, political neutrality, and the highest ethical standards, your work will benefit from, and enhance, the Center’s reputation as the authoritative voice on economic and real estate conditions in the nation’s leading state economy. You will have opportunities for individual and collaborative projects, influence the broader Center research agenda, and develop relationships with key institutions and leaders in the real estate industry. In short, this is a role that offers the chance to do fulfilling and impactful applied economic work in a dynamic and growing state.

The Department of Finance at the Haslam College of Business, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications and nominations for one full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position. This position is for a faculty member whose teaching responsibilities will primarily be in the area of real estate. This position will be classified under the Lecturer, Teaching Professor, or Professor of Practice tracks, with the specific title and rank dependent on qualifications. We seek candidates whose research agenda has defined, or promises to define, important directions in housing scholarship, and whose work has received national and international recognition relative to their career stage. We welcome applications from scholars with interests and expertise in housing planning and policy across national and global contexts and using any of a number of research methods, in areas including but not limited to: zoning, land use, and housing supply; alternative tenure and ownership models; local, regional, state, and federal-level housing policy; governance of housing markets and planning; financialization of housing; housing instability, human health, and homelessness; the reshaping of housing needs by displacement, migration, and demographic shifts; the influence of emerging technologies on housing typologies and markets; and regulatory frameworks and policies influencing housing decarbonization.
