Abdullah Yavas*

Abdullah Yavas holds the Robert E. Wangard Real Estate Chair at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to joining Wisconsin, he was the Elliott Professor at Penn State. He was a visiting Professor at the University of Michigan, a Research Fellow at the University of Illinois, and a visiting scholar at the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary Research, National University of Singapore, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 2007 and was elected as a Fellow of the Weimer School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate and Land Economics in 2004.

Abdullah currently serves as one of the three editors of Real Estate Economics. He organized the 2008 AREUEA International Conference in Istanbul.In the past, he served as a member of the AREUEA board, as a member of the annual meeting organizing committee, as the chair of the AREUEA publication committee, and as a member of the AREUEA dissertation award committee. Currently, he serves on the editorial boards of REE, JREFE, JHE and JRER. He also serves on the advisory board of Real Estate Research Institute.

Abdullah’s research interests include Mortgage Contracts, Economics of Information, and Real Estate Brokerage. He has published over 60 articles in peer reviewed journals including Real Estate EconomicsJournal of Real Estate Finance and EconomicsJournal of Urban EconomicsJournal of Housing EconomicsJournal of Financial EconomicsJournal of Economic TheoryGames and Economic BehaviorJournal of Financial Intermediationand Journal of Labor Economics. His research was also cited in such popular media outlets as MoneyTimeBusiness Week, and Wall Street Journal. Abdullah holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Iowa and a B.S. in Business from Bogazici University.
